NuStar Energy Given OSHA 'Star' 2012-05-30 |
A Kansas company was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration for its health and safety program.
NuStar Energy-Central East Region in Wichita was recognized under the agency's Voluntary Protection Program as a star site. The distinction was made after OSHA inspectors did a thorough check of the facility and found that the safety standards had been met and that proper training had been given to workers.
The local OSHA leadership said others would be wise to follow NuStar's example.
"From the top down, NuStar Energy has displayed outstanding effort in implementing a comprehensive safety and health management system," said Charles E. Adkins, OSHA's regional administrator in Kansas City, Missouri. "The company is an exemplar of workplace safety."
When the effort is made to prevent injuries from occurring on the job, both the employer and workers benefit. By taking the extra effort to ensure safe practices are followed, firms will avoid fines and also keep employees out of harm's way.
