OSHA to Highlight Crane Safety at Florida Worksites 2012-06-18 |
A number of different construction companies in Florida recently announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration to highlight best practices when it comes to crane safety.
In a release, the federal government's safety agency stated that it would had organized a so-called "stand down" with the help of the Florida Crane Safety Alliance and its member organizations. During these meetings, workers will cease operations temporarily and be educated about how best to use the potentially dangerous machines.
"The stand-down follows the signing of the Florida Crane Alliance, which illustrates the willingness of construction employers, associations and crane companies to assume responsibility and commit to construction worker safety," OSHA stated in its release. "An informational flyer with more information on crane safety is available from members of the Florida Crane Safety Alliance or at OSHA's website at http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/cranehoistsafety/index.html."
The agency has been in the news recently for other alliances. Earlier this month, OSHA renewed an agreement with Altec Industries to cut down on the risks of fall, electrocution and other hazards.
